Kauai helicopter tours at a glance
The helicopter operators work from their own bases on Ahukini Road in Līhuʻe, not from the airline terminal. Jack Harter lists 4231 Ahukini Road and Island Helicopters lists 3788 Ahukini Road. Use the meeting point in your booking confirmation.
The prices below are what the operators listed in 2026. A listed price does not confirm a flight on your date, and an online booking fee can come on top. This is an independent guide, not an operator or an agency.

Doors-off flights: age, seats and weight
The doors-off flight in the MD500E takes 60 to 65 minutes with a maximum of four guests. The minimum age is 10, and the product sheet shows no separate child price. The $460 includes a $50 fuel surcharge, and the online booking fee is not included.
Weight matters on this aircraft. A single guest over 250 lb (113 kg), or a couple who together weigh more than 400 lb (181 kg), must pay for an additional seat. The listed price for the extra seat is $460. Read the weight rules of any operator before you book, because they differ.

Manawaiopuna ("Jurassic") Falls
Island Helicopters states that it is the only operator allowed to land guests at Manawaiopuna Falls and let them step out. The product page shows a total of $449.30 per person, and the rounded cost lines beside it add up to about $449.
The landing depends on the weather. If it is not possible, the operator continues the trip as a different tour called the Grand Skies Island Tour. Do not book this flight on the assumption that you will stand at the falls.

Helicopter, boat or kayak?
Three ways to see Kauai's coast and rivers. Examples from operators, 2026.
| Option | Example price | Duration | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doors-off helicopter flight | $460 | 60–65 minutes | From age 10, weight rules apply |
| Na Pali catamaran (Lucky Lady) | $215 adults 13 and older, $195 ages 3–12 | 5–5.5 hours | Snorkeling depends on the sea conditions |
| Wailua River Paddle (kayak) | $95 | 2.5–3 hours | Monday to Friday, river only while the Secret Falls trail is closed |
For the boat option see Na Pali boat tours and the Na Pali Coast. For the river see Wailua, and for a full comparison Kauai tours.
Altitude and noise
In August 2023 the FAA explained a minimum altitude of 1,500 feet (457 m) above the surface for air tours, except with approved lower flight. That is a statement from 2023, so check the current rules. For noise complaints, the FAA's Honolulu office (page updated 25 June 2026) refers to Hawaii DOT Airports and to the Hawaii Air Tour Common Procedures Manual.
If you also plan to fly over Maui or Oahu, both islands have their own guides: Maui tours and Oahu tours.
Before you book a helicopter flight
- Compare the flight, not only the price. A short flight, a doors-off flight and a flight with a landing are different products with different lengths and routes.
- Add the online fee. For the doors-off flight the online booking fee is not in the $460. The $50 fuel surcharge is.
- Check the aircraft. The AStar flight carries an upgrade notice until November 2026, and a visible price does not mean the flight will run.
- Read the weather rule. The landing at Manawaiopuna Falls can turn into a flight without a landing, so ask what you pay in that case.
- Confirm the meeting point. It is the operator's base on Ahukini Road, not the airport terminal.

At the operators' bases on Ahukini Road in Līhuʻe. The addresses are not a gate in the airline terminal, so read your booking confirmation. For the airport itself see the Kauai Airport page.
